Course Overview:

This 16-hours workshop by Sushila Arts Academy (SAA) is designed for individuals who are looking to discover themselves and are at a transition in their lives. Acting is a vast field and one can never completely master it, but the right way to begin is to start from within. Acting is so much more than the stereotypes we see on popular media, and this workshop will help debunk those myths and introduce you to an acting style that is instinctive and authentic.

The workshop will open your ways of looking at the world. The workshop is designed to benefit you, whether or not you want to become an actor. During the lockdown it hopes to be a safe space to unwind and belong. This is a foundation course and based on the reception, we will introduce a longer production-oriented course.

Know the Trainer:

Ms. Akanchha Karki is a theatre actor/director and a mental health practitioner with experience of over 10 years. Akanchha runs a theatre company called Katha Ghera (Kausi Theater) and is a theatre facilitator at Sushila Arts Academy. Akanchha has directed several plays over the years, and in the course worked with many talented actors. Akanchha has a Bachelor’s degree in Performing Arts and a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Christ University, Bangalore. Her areas of interest are gender, feminism, mental health, and social justice, and her theatre work is very much informed by these.
